Yeah, I got Swimmer's Ear, and it REALLY hurts! How do I get rid of it? I want to go swimming really badly, but my mom said I can't get my ear wet. And I HATE it because everyone's like- " Why does it have cotton in it? What did u do?" (I put cotton in it so it wouldn't hurt as much.) PLEASE TELL ME HOW LONG I WILL HAVE IT!!!!!!

(plz?) Thanx!

If you're in a lot of pain, you may have an ear infection. To prevent swimmer's ear in the future, always dry your ears out well after swimming or showering. There is a product on the market called "Swim Ear" that is made for this purpose. However, a drop or two of plain rubbing alcohol in each ear works just as well. When finished swimming, put a drop of alcohol in each ear. This helps to remove any water that is trapped in the ear canal.

If your ear pain persists for more than a couple of days, you may need to see a doctor to get some antibiotics for a possible ear infection. The doc can also give you a shot of a med called celestone (sp) which will help dry up the fluid already behind your ear drum.

Best if you don't swim for a while. If you must, clean ear with alcohol before and after. Use a cotton ball with Vaseline to keep water out of your ear.

You can try a couple things... Really good ear plugs, A swim cap that covers your ears or... please don't take this the wrong way.... but do you have a deviated septum? Most people with holes in their nostrils tend to also have this problem. But good quality ear plugs should do the trick, good luck
