this is an easy one. your subs arent getting enough watts thus your amp isnt putting enough watts out. meaning you need a bigger amp. this happenend to my friend josh. he bought a 200 rms amp for 2 xxx 12" subs. if he turned it up past half it would cut out. he traded that amp for an older alpine amp that had 900 watts rms mono and 50 bucks and it pleanty of power. simply just get a bigger amp to power both or get another smaller amp to power one sub and use that one amp to power the other. hope this helps.

The most common cause of this problem is a poor ground connection. However, it can also be caused by voltage drops on the power wire; ie, a defective fuse, loose battery connection, or corrosion at the battery terminal or fuse holder.

When a sub amp cuts out at high volume, it's almost always power related. When it's heat-related, it shuts off after playing for a while; when it's speaker-related, the amp usually goes into "protect" and has to be turned off and on again. So I'd look closely at your amp's power and ground wiring.

if u are turning your music up and it begins to cut out( i don't know wether u referring to clipping or just plainly trying to shut down). check your ground and your power wire. check your fuse set-up under your hood around the connections. corrosion can buildup over time and lower your voltage. make sure u have a good tight ground and one thats definitely not to long. shorter the ground wire, the better.check all ur connections!!!!!!!!!! u didn't say what kind of amp nor subs, so i take it their a decent brand. if u have your gain too high or under powering your speakers, u can get that problem also. u will eventually burn it all up if u ignore it.

It sounds to me like your amp is overloaded, and may heat up and trip a thermal cut off.

Bigger amp, or you could get another 500 watt amp.
