I used sprays and washed them and kept my yard clean and the flies keep bitting my dogs ears. They are making the ears bleed and leaving scabs. Please help. Any advise will do. Thanks!!

Keep the dog in the house rather than letting him be fly food outside.

They may be attracted to the blood and the scabs that are already there. If possible keep the dog inside until the ears heal. After that try some Avon Skin So Soft lotion. It does a pretty good job of keeping bugs away from people and pets.

You didn't way what sprays you used and where... on the yard or on the dog's ears...

#1: spread diazanon on your yard where the dog is allowed to go
#2: treat the dog's ears with fly repellant
#3: treat the dog's ears with cortisone sulfadene shampoo - then -
#4: treat the dog's ears with cortisone spray or ointment.
If this doesn't clear it up in a few days, take the dog to the vet's for his assistance.

I agree that taking your dog to the vet is probably a very good idea. Also, try feeding him garlic tablets (the ones designed with pets in mind) and brewer's yeast. And get your dog some Front Line or Advantix to help repel bugs. Those should be available at your vet's office.

We have used Watkins Petro-Carbo Salve with BRILLIANT results. Flies are tough - keep making sure their area is kept very clean and free of waste. If it is really bad, be sure to visit the vet - if the flies lay eggs, you could have serious trouble. Best of luck!

same problem happened to me, we just put a LOT of stuff on his ears so that way the flies would stick or just leave them alone. we used zinc and this clear gel taht sprays on and it makes a wall kind of thing.
hope that helped:)

Go to the local pet store or to the vet, they have some sort of "fly be-gone" spray/ cream that really works.
hope this helps

"Avon skin so soft" it will also take care of fleas they don't like the smell at all. Just a little not allot. Seven dust is the best and it will not harm your pets. It can be put right on your pets.

Its sometimes called "fly strike" when a fly will bit, then even insert eggs into the ears leaving parasites behind. i would see your vet or bring him inside

My neighbors German Shepherd had that problem and they used Vaseline. But wipe it off everyday and apply new, it starts to smell and get nasty if you leave it on too long.
