you needto buy it if you dont have your own insurance. if anything happens to the car, you will be held liable. just spend the extra money.

Since you don't have your own insurance, then this is a good analogy:
You pull a slot machine lever and most of the time it will come back paying nothing, but rarely it will hit you with a *bill* for $20,000/
Insurance is a gamble -- a risk.
If you don't get into an accident (even the most minor accident), or if no one dents the rental while parked in a public lot, etc. etc, then you are OK, but can you afford to pay for the damages?
Even if the 'other' guy was at fault, you still have to come up with the cash for Enterprise, while you are waiting for the other guy's insurance to pay up.

I might suggest one to try this site where you can compare rates from different companies: http://HELP-INSURE.NET/index.html?src=2YAaqkqzPF58
RE :Do I really need to buy the insurance?
Renting a car from Enterprise, I don't have a car or insurance but I do have a Drivers Lic.....Is the insurance a scam? Or should I get it? I am in California.
Update: Sounds like I need to buy the insurance since I don't have my own! Got it thanks people of yahoo!!! I rather have that peace of mind than to deal with it later.

Insurance comes with cars. Even if you had a car, and insurance it wouldn't necessarily cover a rental car. If you cause any damage to the rental that is your fault, you will have to either have insurance coverage, or pay out of pocket. Some credit cards will cover it if you use their card for the rental, find out first by calling and asking. If they do, you won't need their rider too.

If the credit card you use provides insurance for rentals then you do not need it. Other wise I would recommend it - if you bounce iff a Lexus and into a house and they determine you to be 20% at fault you can end up owing like $30,000, and that is if noone is injured, you could end up paying for the rest of your life.

If you rent the car and pay for the rental contract with a major credit card, you MIGHT be insured through the credit card company.

If you don't buy insurance, they won't rent you the car. It's their car that coulg get damaged, not yours.

I think Murphy's Law says if you buy it, you won't need it. If you don't, you may put a dent or something in the car and they'll charge you.
Either way you're screwed.
