It has to be frightening, and I hope that this helps.

Don't be alarmed, teens go through a rough period where they feel that nobody understands. This is totally hard, I know. If he passed other drug tests, and you still think he is on whatever. You should start by monitoring his activities more. Get him a cell and make him call you every hour to make sure he's okay or something like that. And you call him. Keep all lines of communication open and let him know how much it would break your heart if you found that he was lying to you or on drugs. Try to get him involved in school activities, this may force him to change his current circle of friends. But I think the most important things that you can do are to get involved or stay involved in his life. Show him you care and support him and give him all the love that he needs. Encourage him to be a leader and Be persistant! Plan family trips or time. Its just my opinion but I hope this helps.

I feel for you. I would think that if he passed the test for meth, then mabe you could rule that one out. But as others have already said, there are so many other things out there such as inhalents that children are useing these days that can not be tested for that he could be useing. I would watch for loss of appetite, trouble sleeping, attitude problems, talking constantly. that are just a few of the side effects of meth. I know because I have had close family members addicted to the stuff at one point and I can tell you first hand it is a horriable ordeal to go through. I will be praying for you and your son , that if he is doing something he should not be doing that he would see the light before it is too late.

Take him to get a drug test just one day out of the blue, when he doesn't expect it. He could be on something and if he knows ahead of time he's going to be tested then he could flush his system without you knowing and pass the test. Also check out any aerosol cans you may have in your home. Many kids now use air fresheners and even cleaning sprays like Lysol to get high on. So check to see if the cans are nearly empty or are empty and then get him to a hospital if that's the case. Inhalation of these aerosols can do more damage in just the first use that can be permanent unlike other drugs which must build up first before causing serious problems.

This isn't going to make you feel better but most people that do meth can pass a drug test. Someone I know goes to his probation officer every two weeks I think, and every time he passes his test. All they have to do is not take it the day before and drink water (at least thats what he says) and it doesn't show up on a drug test. But good luck with your son.

well, A+ parent. You made him take a drug test, you've confronted him, and you've had the talk. you go honey! Unfortunately if he tested negative doesn't mean he's not doing something. Kids huff things all the time . it impairs them, changes pupils, and if he's huffing air freshner that could be the smell your smelling. i know it sounds crazy but i caught someone in my family huffing airfreshner so i know it can be done. anything in an aerisol can can be huffed. and the chemical makes you high. hope this helps. so sorry for what you are going through! it doesn't mean your a bad parent you've covered all your bases

Cocaine would dilate the pupils and you can act sober while on it but the scent is unnoticeable unless you know it. He could be smoking and trying to cover it up. Coming from an 18 year old whos done his fair share of the illegal i simply suggest talking comfortably with your son about what you've done in your past and the dangers of drugs. Depending on where you live meth is unusual. I hope this was helpful and your son commits to making safe decisions.

Watch for sleeping problems, mot eating, sores, twitching, mode swings, lose of weight, and hallucinations eventually. If you notice any of this please get your son help and do so fast. Take it from someone that did meth for 6 years. I have been clean now for two years and three months and it has been the hardest thing I have ever done. I am happy now and looking back I realize that all the warning signs were there but no one cared enough to help.

You should seek professional help for this problem. If you know someone in Healthcare or Law Enforcement that is willing to talk with your son when he is exhibiting these characteristics then you would likely be able to determine the actual drug he is using.. He really does need help.........problems with drugs do not just go away on thrie own

I would suspect inhalants, maybe. It could also be crack or meth. Check his room for arosol cans of any sort, inhalants are probably the most harmful drugs there are out there. If you don't find anything like that, then watch sleeping and eating paterns. If he doesn't eat or sleep much, its probably meth (still could be crack too, but keep in mind crack doesn't last very long).

My teen boys drown themselves in "Axe" body deodorant. Especially now that it's summer, and school is out. So, they don't shower as much as they should. If you were the kind of parent that talks to their child, you would know where your children are, and who they hang-out with, and they wouldn't be doing drugs. You better start talking to your kids! Oh, just a warning to all parents about the dangers of cough medicine. Overdosing by teenagers is on the rise!
