When you first enter into our house, you look right down a hallway and into our living room through an entry way. Basically, the first thing you see is this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v637/FaZizzle/Thehouse004.jpg
The question is, how should I accent that? I thinking of putting an accent wall up. We have taupe couches right now, and we're not 100% sure as to the rest of the colors yet.
Any ideas?
I was thinking of a brown or green, but I REALLY don't know.

I definitely would accent the pool area. It's not necessary, but since it is the first thing that people see when entering, I would play off of that.
I would go with a cool room to go with the cool color of the pool.
Perhaps a beach scheme. THat does not mean you have to hang surfboards in your room. What I mean is the color scheme of a beach:
pale greens, blues, white and sand (such as the furniture color that you have now).
It really depends on how far you want to take it, but if you have wood end and/or coffee tables, you can even paint and distress them.
For accents you can add in some coral, sea shells, bamboo, etc.

Personally, I would concentrate on decorating the interior of the house to reflect my style and taste, and I wouldn't worry about trying to accent the pool area. I would just make the area as neat and attractive as possible with outdoor furniture and accessories such as plants in decorative containers, if you have the space.
I would treat the pool as a separate area, not an extension of the living area. I would work with the taupe couches, choosing beautiful accessories and accent colors. Ivory, greens, shades of red, and rust are all good colors to consider. Also, if you have carpet you should work with the color of that as well. You can always paint a room, and I would rely on paint, accessories, art, window treatments and fabrics to make the room beautiful. I wouldn't even worry about the pool area being visible, so in my point of view, I wouldn't try to accent it.

I think some long, beautiful layered curtains (a heavier set for the outside with a sheer accent in the middle and valance that matches the darker set on top) would be the perfect way to draw attention away from the pool out back, but also not bulk up that area.

Ok, so if I'm understanding this... u would like NOT to see that, correct? Do u have blinds/curtains? What about decoring the outside instead of inside to divide it a bit more so u don't c the pool.
Browns & greens would go really nice w/ taupe. Also navy & lt blues. Do u want more earthy colors then stick w/ u'r browns/greens/copper... for a little bit punch.. navy/rose/maroon/...
U have to look around & c what type of decor u like Or what r things in u'r house that u like to decorate with. Then lean towards that w/ colors & material.. textures...

1] paint the rest of the room sage green or caramel
2] paint the pool wall aqua, or whatever blue is closest to the color
3] add a few aqua touches to room, such as pillows
4] do window treatmentsthat match rest of room; or are neutral [ ivory or white ]; or wood [ oak,etc.].
5] I like the lounge chairs - make sure there are enough chairs for several, a few tables, and some large round tubs or planters to soften the right angles on the pool facing.

wow, I would love to have that pool and view! How about colors in different hues of the pool color. It would be so refreshing. Brown and green are rather sedate. I have green in my LR. It is relaxing. You may tire of brown. If you look in your clothes closet, and see what color you wear most, then that is a clue of the color you like to live with. Play up the tropical aspect!

It depends on what type of feel you want for your house. The best thing for you to do is search the web for interiors the resemble yours and your furniture, and copy that. There's alot of things you have to consider like what type of light you get, how high are the celling, and what type of style you like.
