Normally after about 15 hours, my hair gets really greasy. I've heard about using baby powder and such but it never really works.

Any other suggestions?

Try not to wash hair every day. Washing frequently may encourage even more sebum production. As the oil thats already on the hair shaft keeps getting stripped away, the glands in the hair follicle may go into overdrive producing more.
Use a shampoo and conditioner formulated specifically for greasy/oily hair. These products are specially made to get rid of excess grease, yet be gentle enough not to stimulate the oil producing glands in the hair. Conditioners are also very 'light-weight' so as not to overload the hair shaft. While washing be very gentle when lathering in, harsh scrubbing will encourage sebum production.

When using conditioner, use on the ends first working your way up. It may be preferable not to use any at all near the roots of you hair, or at best a vey quick, minimal coating.

Keep away from combined shampoos and conditioners, hot-oil treatments and frizz serums.

When styling and afterwards avoid touching, brushing and playing with your hair too much. This again stimulates oil production and spreads it through your hair.

I think a clarifying shampoo is in order. That will help to strip the hair of all previous hair care products. Clarifying shampoo will help you get to the root of your problem. You might have to change all the products you are presently using. What else are you using. If using a conditioner it's the wrong kind. Get a new comb + brush or give your current ones a good wash. Put clean linen on your bed and shampoo as mentioned abv. Be willing to experiment until you find what works for you. There are rows and rows and rows of hair care products and there's one that will fit your need. It will not happen overnite but you will get to know your hair real good! Become an expert on you, knowing you.

Baby powder only works on natural blondes and makes brunette hair look gray. There are colored hair powders to absorb the grease. A brand that I've heard of is bumble and bumble, which comes in matching colors for hair. Cornstarch is better than baby powder. That's the only home remedy I've seen online.

Hi,
i have the same problem. This sounds really strange but it worked for me. Mix shampoo, white vinegar, detergent and aloe vera in a cup. Apply to hair washed with cold water. Leave on for around half an hour and dont follow with conditioner. Good luck!

Tigi Bed Head makes a powder for absorbing oil from your hair, but it can be a bit pricey.
Try rinsing your hair with vinegar, it restores the natural pH balance of your hair.

How to do the rinse:

After you shampoo, apply witch hazel to your scalp using a saturated cotton pad or cotton ball.

Any brand of witch hazel will do.

At least 1x a week use a clarifying shampoo. Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo is my favorite. It will get your scalp really clean & remove any build up on your hair.

Shower in the morning, so it'll get greasy around the time you're going to bed. Problem solved :P

Try a clarifying shampoo (Pantene for example) which will dry your hair out a bit.
