I committed a minor sin its kind of embarrassing, but anyways yesterday God helped me out when I was struggling and I truly believe that it was him that made it happen. I really like this girl a lot and she was leaving today for national guard basic training and I was really depressed because I like her a lot and I didn't think I would get to see her before she left. The whole day yesterday I was just sad and felt really bad because I wanted to see her one last time before she left. A couple of hours later she calls me and we end up hanging out for a couple of hours!:). I was extremely grateful and excited. However today I committed a sin in which I told god I would not do if she called me. I'm now afraid despite asking for forgiveness that I might not see her again as a form of punishment from god. Its was only a minor sin I think (masturbating) do you think he will punish me with not being able to see her when she gets back? I'm kind of worried and I feel terrible about what I did!

BTW I'm Lutheran. I feel terrible and I don't know what else I can do to show him that I'm reallllly sorry!!!! I'm going to try and go to church not only because of this but mainly I actually like going to church almost everyday sunday.

How is that a sin?? You didn't hurt anyone. You didn't lie or cheat on your girlfriend.
If your god is going to punish you for something that is completely NORMAL, then I think you need to rethink your religion, darling. Masturbation is something that almost everyone does, whether they will admit to it or not. Just by admitting it, you're braver than most. I have to give you that.
You should NOT feel terrible about what you did (unless you did it somewhere inappropriate, but somehow I find that highly unlikely.) It is perfectly okay. Like the main rule of my religion says : "An' it harm none, do what ye will."

Give yourself a break man, nobody is perfect! I thought the whole point of protestantism was that God will unconditionally love you through your sins (rather than you having to repent for your sins in life or in purgatory á la catholicism) Is not the Christian God most merciful? I'm sure he understands that you're sorry and has forgiven you.

I'm not Lutheran. However, I believe God will forgive you if you repent (apologize and change your heart so you intend not to do it again)
I don't think that that'd be your punishment. One sin doesn't usually have a "never again" punishment attatched. one sin is still bad though.
