Our dog used to roam around for a day or so as a puppy, but he's now been gone for nearly three days. He's about six months old and part hound, and I've heard they've been known to roam, but I'm still worried. If you have a similar breed, did your dog do this?

I had a male dog that was an escape artist and would get out of the backyard when there was a dog in heat. He might stay out for three days. But a female, or 6 mos old pup shouldn't go roaming.

When he comes back, find a way to stop him from roaming. But don't tie him up. Reinforce the fence, or get an invisible fence to put inside of your fence.... or keep him inside in a crate.

Why are you letting your dog roam around ??? Allcities/ towns have leash laws and unless your dog is in a fenced yard or inside your house they are NOT allowed to just roam around.. More than likely the Humane Society or someone picked the dog up....Call your local animal Shelter of Humane society and check to see if your doggie was found...Good luck

If the dog is not back in three months, report the loss of your dog. Dogs like roaming whenever given the chance. Perhaps it is hurt or has been thrown in the pound. Good luck finding it!

If it's been more then one day then he is no longer roaming, he is missing. You should call the animal shelters in your area right away and ask them if they have him or to keep a look out for him. Time to put up missing dog signs too. Go around and knock on doors to see if they have him.

Wow-- bad owner!

My dog has never run away because he's trained and confined to our home or yard.

Dogs should NEVER be allowed to just "roam" as they are susceptible to the dog pound, being run over, being shot by property owners or injured or killed by other animals and dogs.

Call the local shelters and let them know your dog is lost. They'll ask for a description. You can also put fliers up.

IF you get him back, get some training on him and get him microchipped.

my old dog was really good and we let her roam around. but once my grandma was watching her and she got out and she was gone for like a week! somehow she ended up at our local airport. but anywayz i think u should get a fence or keep an eye on him since he is only a puppy. im sure he'll find his way home. good luck with your baby :)

I had a pit in 87 someone stole her at 8 months old right out of my wifes car while in a 7-11 and she came home one day almost two years later. Only good thing was she was in good shape. I always wondered how close she must have been.

you should not let your dog roam. He should be confined to your yard by fence, chair or leash.

Roaming dogs can get poisoned, shot, hit by car, picked up by a/c, or get killed/injured by wildlife or other dogs. Its possible someone picked him up too, hopefully they are taking care of him, and looking for you, or took him to the shelter where you can find him. There are cruel people out there who will torment and kill dogs, or use them for dog bait for fighting dogs.

Check your local shelters, and lost and found ads in your paper. I hope you find your pooch.. and keep him contained to your yard from now on!

You are an irresponsible owner. You should never allow your dog to roam free. You should stick to goldfish keeping.
