Present in Iraq since 1980, today the International Committee of Red Cross maintains an operational presence in the central, southern and northern parts of the country. Although the deteriorating security situation and the widespread violence have severely limited the organization's ability to fulfil its mandate, it remains committed to meeting the immense humanitarian needs in the country.
For information about volunteer opportunities with the Red Cross in Iraq, contact the International Committee of the Red Cross at the link below.

Are you crazy? Why would you want to volunteer to go to Iraq, even if you'd be going in a civilian role? It isn't safe to be anywhere near the Middle East, so you should do everything you can to avoid going there.

You can't. red cross is nominally a christian organization. iraq is a muslim country. Muslim countries do not allow christian organisations into the country. In iraq you would have to volunteer, for the red crescent.

I treid doing something very similiar trying to go to the Philipines when they had that huge Volcano last year. Go to www.redcross.com they will give info. You require some formal education and it is sort of a dificult procedure but that would be your best bet! Good luck and God bless
