You just need to work at it. It's going to take some time..it won't happen over night.
Start singing in a comfortable range, doing a scale. Then introduce your voice to slightly higher notes. Once you've mastered singing them, move onto higher pitches. Continue doing this until you're where you want to be.
It's like stretching before you do something so as not to strain or pull anything. Your voice needs a warm-up before doing anything major.
Just try not to strain your vocal chords. If you work at it, you should be a soprano within a few weeks. :]

It's not likely that you can actually "change" your vocal range. You may be able to hit higher notes by practicing scales, going a little bit higher each time. Don't do too much at once.

I hate to say it, but if you're a true alto and can't, at the moment, sing soprano, you probably won't be able to make yourself.

Practice singing through your diaphragm as opposed to your throat and may enlist the assistance of a voice coach.

it will take a considerate amount of time, and you may never become a very high saprano, but really, just practice singing higher and higher and work on your tone in the upper registers. eventually youll get higher.
