As long as you have your parents' permission, you can volunteer at 13 in most places.

With a supervisor, I have taken children as young as 5 years old for community service. We got permission from the home in advance, and then the children met with the residents and talked about the photo albums they had made for them.

If you are not with an organization such as the YMCA, or Boys and Girls Club, you can go to someone in charge of where ever you want to volunteer and ask them what you can do to help.

I have been a volunteer nearly all my life. When I was 10 years old, I wanted to be a teacher, and I went to the library and asked if I could start a book reading for preschoolers, and they said yes. They helped me post notices about it, and I read books every Saturday morning for the whole summer.

I have dozens of things like that I could tell you about (taking Sunday Comic scrapbooks to the Vet's hospital, working as a teen "candy striper" at the hospital are just a few).

age doesn't matter!!!
If you're volunteering at those kinds of places, sometimes they do have limits. For a hospital or nursing home, usually 15 or 16. At a library maybe 13.
