Depending on your age, you may want to check out womenshealthmag.com. It has great tips on how to eat right and loose weight. Get informed first, if you're young (under 18) and overweight you may just need to change your diet. The Abs Diet for women is a good place to start, because it really helps with what to eat. You also really don't need to eat less, just know when to eat. Always eat breakfast with some type of protein and try and eat dinner 2 hours before you go to bed.

The main thing is, just count your calories. If you eat 1500 calories per day, you can lose one pound per week, since the average person burns 2000 calories per day, which would put you burning 500 more calories per day than you eat. Multiply 500 by 7 days of the week, and that gives you 3500, which is the magic number--the number of calories equal to one pound. Eat a MINIMUM of 1200 calories per day. Exercise burns even more if you don't eat extra to make up for it. Cardio can boost your metabolism and get you burning you calories faster. Weigh yourself once per week (pick a day) in the morning after you use the restroom and before you eat anything. That will give you a pretty accurate understanding of your weight to work by. One thing also that can help if you want to try it is picking a meal plan that will keep you at the number of calories you want, then eating that every day. Nothing else. It's easier to stay focused that way. Now that, you won't keep off unless you already know how to MAINTAIN weight, because it's not really teaching you how to eat right. Try to fit in as many veggies and fruits and salads into that as possible, because they're pretty low in calories and it will allow you to eat more. Also get plenty of protein. You don't want to lose muscle (your organs are also made of protein, so you have to have it to stay healthy). Grains are also really good for the mornings (Whole grains only! "Wheat" does not mean whole. Look for the word "whole.) to give you some energy for your day, but cut down on them the rest of the day. They're lots of calories. And don't do dried fruit either. Because since all the water is out of it, dried fruit is really just compacted calories. Which brings me to something else--drink lots of water. It keeps you full without adding any calories on. Soup is the same way, if you can see through it. Not if it's the creamy kind, like potato. Avoid those.

Before start any diet program and working out speak with your doctor to make sure that you are healthy. He will be able to also give your great tips for weight loss and programs that you can use. He can get you to a nutritionist so that you will know the right types of food to eat.

It is OK to some times have a small treat of some thing sweet once in a while. But not every day. I don't usually keep sweet things in the house so it makes it harder to be able to eat them if you don't have them in the house. Also don't keep chips in the house, they are terrible for your diet.

Remember to just take it one day at a time, do not think about tomorrow. Just think about the day that you are on so to speak.

Stay away from any kind of soda and all of the sweets, as they will only make it harder for you. Also stay away from fast foods as they are high in calories.

Make water a big part of what you drink as it will not make your gain any weight.

Eat salads/fruits/vegitables as they are really healthy for you. Have a nice salad before your main meal. If you eat less than you normally eat you will lose weight. If you get hungry before a meal, have a small hand full of nuts, unsweetened of course. Nuts are good, they help you to feel not as hungry, so that you will eat less at a meal.

Make sure you eat breakfast each morning, since it will jump start you metabolism and help you to burn fat.

Have your last meal of the day before 6:00 PM, so that you will burn it off before bed time.

Make sure that you start moving, go power walking as it's good for you to help you loose weight. Work out, use your muscles. Working out and building your muscles will help you to burn off fat. The larger muscles help you to burn off the fat faster.

Watching what you eat and drink, and working out is the answer to your being able to loose weight. Don't give up as you will get there if you want to. Stay away from alcohol as it is also fattening.

The best place to start is with yourself. Your diet won't work unless you maintain your focus. Try to do a little exercise everyday. Stay away from fast foods and eat smaller meals. You will see results.

find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and that's how much you need to lose.
read labels on food packaging -look for less fat and carbs and more dietary fiber and protein and in ingredients less things you cant recognize
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism). start with as much as you can and you will see you are gona be able to do more with every week
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Eat healthy, this means more vegetables, and less meat. Do not eat fried food, or hamburgers type. Do not over eat. If you feel you are full, this means you already ate too much. Try not to eat anything after 9pm. Exercise daily by walking a lot, or stretching helps a lot.

Pick a healthy diet plan, start a light to moderate exercise program (minimum, long walks). And then take it one day at a time, one hour at a time.
And everyday , every hour pat yourself on the back for succeeding.

Yeah don't eat less and don't count your calories. That is no fun ! Because everyone loves to eat and not everyone is good at math! Like ME! When you want to snack eat an apple, or anything healthy. Don't drink soft drinks anymore. Just juices, milk, and water! NO MORE FAST FOOD! I promise if you don't eat fast food for like 2 weeks you will see an improvement. Oh and also exercise.
