Because they enjoy sitting at the front when they go somewhere. We never have people on the front row...........

I have been a professional church musician for 37 years and have NEVER seen people run to sit in the front. They sit in the back only because there are no chairs in the parking lot.

most people sit in the back row. I know a little elderly lady who was sitting in the front of the church one sunday and passed out right in the middle of the sermon! The paramedics were called and she was mortified. She told me she was so embarrassed that she is never sitting in the front again!

Some people might want to get a better view of the proceedings. Others may feel that they are getting closer to God. Others might just want to be seen. On the opposite side, there are many people who seem to like the back of the church.

Most churches I've ever been in, everyone has filled up the back and the front's been left bare.

I don't. I like to sit in the middle. Music and instruments are way too loud up front.

I liked the middle. Up front I always felt like the preacher was always looking at me. lol. And if you sit in the back, it could be like a slacker and who wants to look like a slacker in church? lol.
