If they did it to the True Islamic law. Unfortunately I don't think any country knows what that is anymore. Islamic law gives equal rights to everyone. All religions are allowed to practice freely because the Quran states that there is no compulsion in religion. We wouldn't be having these horrible wars with such a high cost of life because Islam has rules of warfare. No non-combatants may be harmed and if a combatant surrenders he is guaranteed no harm and rights. Unfortunately this is not the case even with so-called muslims today. This society would be wonderful because the True laws of God are beautiful and designed to bring out and nurture the better nature of humanity.

I'm not American, but stuff in the Sharia seems offensive to Westerners:
I think these are typical characteristics:
- stoning of practicing gays
- stringent blasphemy laws so that Mohammed's name is not dishonoured
- extra taxation on non-muslims
- death penalty for conversions out of Islam
- exclusion of non-muslims from high government and civil
service posts, also from educational positions
The laws are designed in part to encourage through sanctions non-muslims to convert. Some of them are severe laws against criminals that may have a deterent effect.

If the United States adopted Islamic law I would leave.
The United States is not a theocracy, contrary to what a lot of people like to believe.
The founding fathers were wise to insist on separation of Church (or any religion) and State. Sadly, there are fundamentalist Christians who are trying their best to change that.

I would leave. Plain 'n' simple. This country was founded on the idea that EVERYONE has the right to one's own religion (as long as they did not interfere with each other). Putting religious law as the national law would defeat that, be it Islam, Jewish, or Christian law.

It'd suck. Sharia law was actually fairly liberal by the standards of the Middle Ages when it was written (compare the treatment of dhimmi to the Spanish Inquisition), but it's pretty repressive by modern standards.

I'm against violence, but if they try to change our laws for Islam laws, they better be ready for what's ahead, in our country, they will never be sure who is armed and who is not. It's not going to be pretty, and I'm for it!

It wouldn't matter to me either way. But as this is a free country and very multi religious I would object to it. I do not see fit to force people to follow laws of another persons religion.

If you are talking about true Islam law, and not that of the misguided fanatic fringe element, I suspect there would be very little difference from what we have today.

As a Christian I would not be happy with that. Not just because of Islam specificaly, but because the Bible itself draws the dinstiction between church and state.

Everybody likes the law that has born on it and they and their family have lived on it, and although God offers to every mind its choice between truth and repose, usually we would prefer to repose!
