The core vaccines (those that all puppies need)
Distemper, parvo, canine hepatitis, adenovirus-2.
In some cases some puppies might need lepto and parainfluenza, however these are NOT recommended for all puppies/dogs unless they are at high risk of exposure.
No puppy/dog should get coronavirus or adenovirus-1. These are NOT recommended by the AAHA/AVMA or the 27 vet schools.
Rabies needs to be done when the puppy is 20 weeks old or older.
Go to Dr. Jean Dodds or Dr. Ron Schultz site and get a copy of the 2006 Novemberissue of Whole Dog Journal. it has a great article on vacciantions.

The American Animal Hospital Association has put their recommendations for vaccinations on their website. This is the protocol used by all 27 U.S. vet schools. Unfortuntately, not all vets are following this protocol and selling vaccines that are not needed, such as Corona.

Core vaccines for a puppy are DA2PP
If you want to learn a lot about vaccines, go to Dr. Bob Rogers site. He has a lot and a lot of links.

I got a dog from the humane shelter and found out he is a year old. He needed: Distemper, Infectious Canine Hepatitis,Leptospirosis, Parinfluenza, Parvovirus, Bordetella (Kennel Cough), and Rabies. He also needed a heart worm test, heart worm/flea/tick preventative, and I had him dewormed just in case...

* Required:
Rabies Vaccine (depending on your area it will be a 1yr. or a 3 yr. vaccine)
* Optional:
Distemper (DHLPP/C)
Bordatella (Kennel Cough)
Lyme (depends on the area)
Lepto (again, depends on the area)
Heartworm checks do not start until 1 year old, unless you believe your dog has been exposed.
I don't recommend any websites for any information on something as important as vaccines. I would rather advise that you discuss any concerns/questions with your veterinarian. That is what they are there for!!
