At 18 I was an warehouse person. Not my first job, I had had
probably 5 jobs before that time. I went on to become the main Shipping/Receiving Manager for the San Diego area and shipped to all the other stores in our chain.

It was a great job, put me in shape, and I felt good at the
end of the day. How many other people can say that?

At age 18, I was in college, working evenings and weekends at Kresge's, forerunner of K-Mart (but much smaller stores) - mostly cashiering, but doing whatever needed to be done. During the summers I also did office work through temp agencies during the daytime.

You have to start someplace. Retail and fast food are common places to start.

I worked at a health club. I started in the kids' club then moved to the front desk, then I became a department manager before I was 20. I've moved on since then. I didn't like the particular company that I worked for (don't worry they are gone) but the work itself was easy.

pizza delivery. I thought it was going to suck at first. But it turned out to be a way relaxed job, with very flexible hours. And I got to meet a bunch of people while I was out delivering pizzas. I would stay a bit sometimes and party with them, than go back to the store after a while. And the pay was great. Sometimes I would leave with $150 in tips for one night.

I spent the summer working at Disneyland before going to college. At the time they paid about 25% more than min wage and it was a lot of fun.
