Officially it's the Summer Solstice, 21 June, but that's kind of silly because that's also MIDsummer's Day. I would say 1 June - but does it matter? The weather is soooo variable in England - summer effectively started even before Easter this year!

It's the 21st June. Ask any druid, but you might need to travel to Stonehenge to do so. It's also the longest day of the year. Summer Solstice i think it's called.

Its whenever the sun decides to show up, but then it isn't here for long and goes away again, the temperature drops and then it comes back...suddenly, and twice as hot as before, then goes again...ad infinitum from june to end august!
