People may fear it, because it could change the person you are today, now some people might want that, but theres smudges and crumbs, which have made you stronger and more knowledgeable, Also people dont know or realise what could happen, long term or short term,That could be two reasons, i dont know?!

OK, although I am usually not a bible quoter, here's a good one:

Why do we want manure?
Simple: in the old days, it was the only fertilizer, and without it, plants would not grow.
Likewise, a brain without a few crumbs and smudges doesn't produce anything of value.
Hail to the manure of our non-empty brains!

I don't think you'll necessarily have a clear healthy brain after being brainwashed. If anything it would make your brain more cluttered with other people's ideas that are not your own.
