so i went to church for the 1st time in a long time the other day. And i finally realized why my parents never made me go. Them people feed so much crap into these kids heads, if you swear! your going to hell! If your not thinking of god every second of the day, then you are not devoted, you are not true the bible, and you are going to hell. They were literally saying this, and i was discusted on what they were making these kids believe. Now im not big on religion, and i know pretty much nothing of the bible, but do people honestly believe this crap?

i ask this question because i care, i want to understand and believe in something out there, but i dont want to feel like i have to be perfect, i want to beable to live life freely, and not tied down to my religion. I just think it would be good to discover a believe that i can soon pass on to my own children.

It's good that you see these things, so you know. The reason people go to church is to learn Bible truths, and not commands of men and their deceptive teachings. For This reason you should know more of what the bible teaches so you can help people learn the things that really are important for the children. Our children are just a smaller edition of us. They don’t want “baby talk” Life is serious business, our children want to learn to do as grown-ups do. They quickly and keenly senses injustice, hypocrisy or lack of love. That is why the qualities of love, justice, mercy and other fruits of the spirit must not be violated in dealing with our children.
I see that you care or you wouldn't make mention of this incident.
No true Christians don't believe that crap. They search out and find the truth of God's word to teach their Children.
If you would like to ask questions and be guided to to the truths of God's word just ask a question and see if I can show you where to look?

I don't think that all churches are like that, but some still give the same meaning.
And yes. Some do believe it. at my Catholic school there were some of kids who didn't question anything about their own religion and shunned all others that didn't believe. This one teacher was even convinced that everything you do (literally, whether it was from breathing to stealing) was a sin and that God was the only that could ever forgive you.
So yes, some take it VERY seriously. But not I.

Any sin, swearing included, will keep a person out of heaven unless they admit their sinfulness to God and accept Christ as savior and Lord. No one can think about God all day, even the best Christian. Sounds like it's not the greatest church but please don't give up. Try some other ones.

Visit and research different churches until you find one that suits you. Don't get hung up so much on "religion" and 'denomination", rather look at the Churches that teach Love, Forgiveness and how Christ loves us and the sacrifices he made. After all, True Christianity is all about LOVE, not Judgement. Thanks and have a great day. :)
