Certainly what we all hope will happen to you is that you will learn never again to drive over the speed limit!
In reality, you'll just need to pay a fine.
In Wales, this is a three-point offense.
Finally, understand that at that hour, and that speed, you could easily have killed someone. There could easily be some old drunk fool out there wobbling down the road from a pub, without the sense or reflexes to get out of the road at that hour. It was dark--others can't see you as well, and they cannot judge your speed properly in the darkness.
You need to show some level of maturity to drive. I'd recommend you place yourself under some sort of voluntary "grounding" until you have gained the maturity to act reasonably. Say, six-months of not driving any car (hand your keys back to your parents until your self-imposed restricition is over) and not stay out past 10:PM for at least a month or more.
Grow up, act responsibly, and don't jeapordize other people's lives because you are too selfish to obey the laws that are put there for all our protection.

Say goodbye to that license and have a nice good long look at public transport.
Most new license are now under a 2 year probational period, (I know mine was, I'm just out of it) which I think allowed them points up to 6 before the license was recalled. You will most likely be suspended from driving for a period, and then you'll have to retake all the tests.
The issue of the time would of made a diffence if you was going at a 'reasonable' 35-40 but 60mphs in a 30 zone? You stand no chance.

I'm assuming the rules are the same as when I passed (you've started off with only 6 points available??) expect the worst-bear in mind you are doing almost double the speed limit, the time doesn't make a lot of difference-you & I both know that the traffic is less dense-there are much fewer kids playing out on the street (if you hit one at that time of day I think you should be able to claim from there parents!!)

The only defence you might have is if it was not obviously a 30 limit.
If it was obviously a 30 limit - you've made a potentially serious error of judgement that could have been fatal. The court will apply the appropriate penaly.
however, if this was a genuine mistake (no signs, no lights, etc) then you could plead your case. This will mean getting a solicitor and a court appearance. When you take inconvenience, increased insurance, etc. into account this could be cost effective.

Your looking at 6 points at least !
Why were you doing 56 in a 30 ? The speed limits are there for a reason.

Depends on whats your reason for speeding, you will probably recieve a fine and points. It depends whether you got stopped by the old bill or flashed by a camera. If you got flashed you will get 3 or 6 points and a 60 pound fine. (You must have a good reason for speeding)

You most probably get 6 points a fine and loose your licence as I think you have to keep your nose clean now for the first 2 years from when you pass.

It is belolw the two points at which they 'throw the book at you'.
That is 'twice the limit or 100mph.
I guess they will make an example of you because you are a new driver. I advise you to go to court rather than plead by post and be as apologetic as you can. The magistrates always prefer someone to face their misdemeanour.
