Awww, I always like your Q/A. Except for the stuff about Protestant -- that's my job. You have to ask about bananas.

it has been to my experience that anytime anyone on here says anything or asks a question about one religion to prove what they believe is right and where they find the scriptures that back up what they say.... most people make personal remarks about the person asking the question...a question is not belittling anyone or any religion it is just a question but when a person makes it personal such as responding by are you Jesus's friend then they are making it personal instead of keeping it impersonal...

Pastor Billy says: this is the second time I've had to read an answer from "Serving Lord Jesus" sister if I have to read one more I'll have to puke. As is typical this person is not talking about Catholicism but a caricature of it. Midge you've raised an excellent question and beat me to it!

I've personally experienced what you are talking about and you are right how can ones spiritual nature be separated from the physical without coming up with half a being?
We are the Church and when those like non-Catholic Evangelists attempt to preach to us and say things such as "I don't have a problem with many Catholics, it's just your Church and priests" they lack the intelligence to reason that the Catholic Church is one laity and clergy together. You can't choose to separate us as it's not in your authority. You can't choose to accept only half the person because of your bigotry or ignorance it's simply not ...logical.

So you're basically saying that we can't criticize the Catholic Church? Because its member identify very personally with it. Hmm.

Sorry. I grew up in the Church.

I'll stop there.

As is so for each person and their personal beliefs; it doesn't matter if the topic is religion or some other value people hold. But, Christian believers and non-believers alike do the same things to each other daily in this place.

We are the world!

people belittle others to feel better about themselves. if someone of another religion belittles us for being Catholic it's because they are not sure of their faith and dont know how to defend it so they belittle not only the church but also the main beleifs.

I'm Christian and I certainly respect the Catholic Church. I have family members, who are Catholic and we don't demean each others church and live harmoniously. We are all God's children!

I get what you're saying Midge.. but see it from my point of view. I like you. I like your questions and your answers... we don't have the same faith, but you and I are able to agree to disagree.
The majority of people on here who call themselves christian aren't like you.. it's easy for me to attack their beliefs because of the way they present the questions or answers.
It isn't about your faith with me. You are a good representative of that. Mostly, my experience has been that Catholics are nice people.. the fundie protestants are where I have my problem.
I can't lump you all together as the "Bride of Christ", Midge. I just can't see them in the same way.
I hope you can see my point of view.

Midge,

Non-catholics disagree with you and your church's doctrine. Things like the statues (saints,) praying to Mary or confessing to a priest. Yes, purgatory is another one. Not only are the four mentioned above not scriptural...they are not biblical, either.

I'm not trying to belittle you or your church. I mean no disrespect. God loves all of us. It's up to us to love Him!

Don't take it so personally, just because someone has a particular gripe against a certain religion, doesn't mean that they dislike all people who follow that religion.
