In many cases, yes. If you are talking about muscles, the medical term for losing mass by underuse is "atrophy". Also, bone density is lost from insufficient weight-bearing exercise.

On the other hand, if you are burning fat, then you do use it, and you lose it.

This is for everyone that said no. How many of you can remember how to use all the formulas you learned in highschool math class? Not to many, hu? Just those of you who kept using the math. No way! I didn't use it and I will tell you I lost it. All of it!! LOL! So it depends on what your talking about!

god yes, I can be in the best shape of my life due to wrestling, and then i'm out of breath from moving a coach after "not using it" for a few months.

it depends on what exactly you have in mind.
if you dont use your legs (are in wheelchair) for more than 6 months you will have to learn walking again just like babies do
if you dont have sex for a while it doesnt mean anything - nothing is gona stop working
