They are definetly not made in the same factory..... This really comes down to personal opinion personally I would go with specialized having literally folded 2 Giant DH frames (gave up on them after that) I've since owned 2 Big Hits .... (well named) and am currently riding 2 Norco's ( A-line and the 4X ) which guess what..... use the Specialized patented 4 link suspension specialized (and Norco) have always been at the top of my list especially where duallies are concerned. If your a big guy I'd go with the specialized they are way stronger I'm 220 lbs and break alot of bikes but have never broken a Specialized or a Norco ...

Specialized - All The Way. Not that I'm biased or anything, owning one myself, but when I was shopping around for a new full-suspension bike it was made clear by both reviews and bike shop gurus that Specialized is a cut above the rest.

Both are very good. It depend on the final bike.

Giant has the Maestro rear suspension design, which I think it might be better than Specialized FSR, but I really think both are very good. I've had a Specialized FSR and really liked it.
