A few days ago I realized my indoor/outdoor cat had fleas. ANd he still has them. We ordered more Frontline, but it won't get here for another week. I just gave him a regular bath and brushed him a lot. But there's still fleas. Is there any treatments or at home remedies I can perform to get rid of them in the meantime??

ALSO- before I knew he had fleas, he slept in my bed with me. And he continues taking naps there. Am I safe?

You're not safe from being bitten by fleas, no. When pet has fleas, they WILL be in the environment as well, it's part of the flea lifecycle. You always need to treat the environment too when there are fleas present - Frontline Combo/Plus stops more fleas developing in the environment, but you do need to spray carpets and furniture and wash bedding first.

I would suggest calling vets in your area and finding out who has Frontline is stock - many do. Any other treatment available at a vets is also fine, like Revolution or Advantage.

I would guess people are going to suggest Dawn Dish soap and the like for your cat, and probably Borax for your carpets. I must therefore point out that dish soap only washes fleas off your pet, it doesn't stop them hopping right back on the animal from your carpet - and believe me they will.

People don't seem to like to hear this, but if home remedies/pet shop products actually worked, there would be no point in Frontline and the like existing!

The one thing that sucks about indoor/outdoor cats is that they bring in fleas from outside. Your best bet is to take your kitty to a pet grooming place. Ask them to flea dip your cat. Then put the front line stuff on and give the kitty bathes often. Also, don't let the cat sleep with you because fleas love carpet, blankets etc... Also do those lil fumigation things that you get from your local drug store. that will kill any fleas that are in your home. Once they get in they lay eggs and it turns into the never ending story. Summer time is when all those damn fleas come out.Good Luck!

what you need to do is go to walmart and but a flea comb or a lice comb give him another bath and why his fur is drying comb his fur out get a cup of alcahol ( rubbing alcahol) and every flea you put it in the alcahol then vacuum and wash your sheets to make sure there are no fleas in your sheets and you should be ok

I used alcohol.just get a glass and fill it with alcohol and dip the comb in and comb .the alcohol parilizes the flea and kills them .just dipp the comb back in forth and you'll get all the fleas that way .and just do it again later in the day or the next day .

the stuff from walmart works great, there is no need to order anything. Also, an old indian that I used to live with doused his dog with kerosene to get rid of fleas, but I don't know if I would recommend it. But to answer the second question... NO!! Once they infest your house, you will have to bomb it. I am not joking and I am sure.
