Hi
Unfortunatly, you have some really bad answers here.
Fancy feast canned is fine. It is middle grade canned food.
Stuff like 9 lives and friskies are poorer grade while something like wellness is high grade.
Here is the main thing.
Any canned food is better then any dry food!
There is NO such thing as high quality dry food.
95% of the moisture is zapped out of dry foods during ther processing. Cats are not naturally big drinkers and get their needs from their foods.
Dry foods are loaded with carbohydrates (except innova evo) and many cats have trouble processing carbs. Dry foods can lead to diabetes, kidney disease, obesity, crystals as well as a host of other problems.
Where am I getting my info from? Mostly from experience and research. My cat got diabetes from eating dry food and I have seen the results in hundreds of diabetic cats who have made the switch to canned foods.
As far as teeth go, fry food is as good for a cat's teeth as eating a pretzel is good for your teeth. It's a myth
Don't belive me? Check out the labels. What is the first ingrediant in fancy feast? what about dry foods? Is it organ or muscle meat or meat at all? Is it chicken or chicken meal ?
You want to feed canned foods w/o gravy as gravy is also usually heavy in carbs.

Oh and BTW, the last diabetic cat that I adopted is now in remission with the switch to low carb canned foods

Fancy Feast is the most expensive small tinned cat food. It costs about $1.00 a can. I don't understand why anything bad would cost that much. I have found that there is a difference in cat food in different countries. Here in Australia Purina One dry food is the most expensive but when i had previously asked a question I got answers that it is a cheap brand. Also a small can of cat food only in one day is not enough for your cat. I feed my cat dry food as well (although i have been told on this site that dry food causes problems for cats) and milk sometimes.

It's definately not the best diet, but if that is all your cat will eat then there isn't much else you can do. The biggest thing is that tartar will build up a lot faster for him than if he was to eat dry food. Of course, your cat probably knows that he prefers fancy feast and if he doesn't eat anything else then you will feed it to him. You could try mixing some dry food in with it to balance it out some.

I only give Fancy Feast to my cat as a treat or if we're out of his Science Diet and can't make it to the pet store. Ya, it's convienient to get it at the grocery store but it's not all that great. Giving the cat healthier food is better. In order weining your cat off it, mix a little with dry food. Therefore he's forced to eat the dry food but he'll still get the pleasure of eating Fancy Feast.

Depends on what you mean by 'bad'. Many cats can live just fine on Fancy Feast and the like, but any that are prone to becoming overweight usually do become fat on Fancy Feast or Felix, Whiskas and so on. They're not high quality foods. My cat did just fine on Whiskas and Felix her whole life, but I don't recommend it because of the amount cats I've seen who have become vastly overweight on even small amounts of supermarket diets.

yes it is very bad, it can cause the stomach acids to gain power, which would disorient his liver, you should only give him one can of wet food a week, he should eat dry every other time.
P.S. I have owned over 20 cats, and i had the same problem, i now that the cat maybe cute while begging for wet food, but you should put your foot down.
