Nope. Truth is that NO NAME is uncool. Uncool is an uncool label.
Check your categories, sweetie, when you do post. You are hitting in the genealogy area, where we usually hunt relatives, mostly dead ones. Which I think is very cool... but it might not be the group you intend to be chatting with.
Or, we'd love to help you trace your family. Good source of pride in YOU.

You're probably reacting to "Ashley's" popularity since in 1992 it was the most popular baby girl's name in the United States, according to Social Security. Parents tend to choose trendy names for girls that often place them in a particular decade. For example, girls at the turn of the 20th century were often named Rose, Florence, and Bertha--names that are increasingly uncommon today.

When I think of this uni-sex name, I think first of either Scarlet O' Hara's crush on Ashley Wilkes in Margaret Mitchell's "Gone with the Wind", or of the country western singer, Ashley Judd. Incidentally, "Ashley" is of old Old English origin, meaning "ash meadow". Although Ashley was originally a surname, parents first gave it to their sons during the 16th century.

Of course, your name is what you make it. If you are "cool", then so is your name.

In 1990, according to the US Census, it was the 63rd most popular female name in the USA. (Among all ages, not just the under-25 set.)

It may be uncool or not; it is reasonably common.
Mary was 1st,
Elizabeth 5th,
Tiffany 110th,
Latoya 372nd

Cool usually depends on the person, not the name. If Geroge Clooney's first name was "Bug-snot", you can bet there would be 10,000 boys named that by 2020.

it's pretty common, but I don't think it's dorky or anything. My sister is named ashley and I can think of 7 other ashleys that I know right now. but, like i said it's not "uncool"

Yes it's "uncool"; it's a boring name that 99% of the country has. It's too common and unoriginal. You can tell that the parents didn't put much thought into naming their children.

Do you not believe in capital letters? The last part of the question does not deserve a question mark. You, my dear, are an idiot.

To answer your sad excuse for a question, Yes, the name Ashley is the name of an idiot.

Nope.. it does sound more sweet than "cool" though. Ash for short sounds "cool".. and it works for male or female.
