Oops! Obviously I meant "...is the word of God..." It was my computer's fault. Sorry.

I do believe the Bible is a word about God, but I don't believe it is the only one. And, I certainly don't believe that it is a perfect document. I think that it is a collection of works written by men over many, many years. It is far from a perfect document. It has been edited over many years by different scholars and scribes. The churches cannot even agree on the canon. There are roughly 6 different canons. There were very few things in the Bible about science. It was never meant to be a book of explaining how the universe came to be. It was book explaining who created the universe and how we can have a relationship with that being. To use it as a science book is just wrong. The other planets and other parts of the universe around us were never found out in the Biblical times. The writers had no method to know they were there. They weren't the most educated people in science. The Jews believed that when it rained God poked holes in the sky. Hey, it makes sense to them, but we know this now not to be true. They believed the sky is made of water, but we don't believe that now. We now know why the sky is blue. My fellow Christians need to stop using the Bible as a science book. Obviously, we wouldn't be very smart in the science world if we used that as the science book.

Quite to the contrary -science has yet to disprove one fact given in the Bible . Many scientists who at one time were atheists , have said that the more they study the universe the more they have to admit that it couldn't exist without God . For example Carl Sagen , a wonderful scientist who died believing in God . The deeper they dig the more they find themselves staring into the face of God . While almost all scientific theories get thrown out eventually _ the Bible still stands like a rock . God named the stars in this universe and the next . He knows places that we can't even dream of .

Why does he have to talk about all of the planets for the bible to be the word of God.

Uh, who said that and where did they get that rubbish?

You conversed with a fool- the Bible mentions that God has named all the stars and created the "heavenly bodies", but there is no mention of planets by name.

Silly!

LOL...if Christians admitted that they drink, this could be one of their drinking questions.

Personally, I do NOT believe the Bible is the Word of God, so I'm free to state the obvious - the men who wrote the books of the Bible simply did not know as much about our universe as we know now. We've actually progressed in the last couple thousand years beyond the Bible's crude cosmology.

Job 38:31
Can thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? Or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?

Mazzaroth seems to be a constellation of stars that we know nothing about.

Arcturus with his sons seems again to be stars that we know nothing about.

God said he calls all the stars by names.

Do you know we have wisdom in our inward parts? Job 38:36

God knew more about our solar system than we know today because God created it.
Whatever Mazzaroth and Arcturus with his sons are we know nothing about them to this very day.

Thousands of years ago God told Abraham that the stars were too numerous to count, but God said He called them all by name.

You know very little about the Bible.

Let's say there is intelligent life on other planets, and they are vastly more advanced than we are. Their knowledge is ions beyond ours.
They travel here, trying to teach us basic stuff (basic to them) they would try to teach us with the advanced knowledge they had, but would equate it to something WE understood, using our present knowledge and grasp of things.

God was no different. He spoke to mankind in those times using the earthly knowledge THEY had at the time. If he talked to them about sonic flight, splitting atoms, they'd be like HUH??? So he used what limited knowledge they had to make them understand about Him.

Um, they didn't have the other gods names available to provide names when the book was written? (Astrology was only mentioned as a convenience to support prophesies)

I don't see lady bugs mentioned in the bible either, did we miss them too. You don't have to go to outer space to find things not mentioned in the Bible..
The Bible is not a creation list.
