Also...what's your opinion on abortion? Is it good or is it bad? I don't think there is anything bad about abortion, mostly because i am not religious. There is nothing bad about abortion. if a little girl gets raped are youjust gonna let her sit there go into labor and possibly die?

The best age is when someone is mature enough to understand accept and deal with all of the possible consequences.

I would ask my kid what they thought those consequences were and what they thought they would do if they happened. I can guarantee that very few people understand the consequences when they think they're ready to have sex and even fewer are mature enough to accept and deal with them.

In the end I would fill in the gaps and give them every worst case scenario. I would ask if there is someone they're thinking about specifically. And in the end I would tell them how to keep themselves safe.

Every person is different. However, having said that, and this is the answer no young person ever wants to hear, a person is ready to have sex at the very moment when they can take care of the consequences of sex ... yes, that means children but it also means the emotional attachments made and the risk and cost of disease. If a person isn't ready to pay for sex, in real terms here, (I'm NOT talking about being with a prostitute) then they are ready ... not before.

I don't think there is a "correct" age it depends on the maturity of the child. I would say anything under the age of 16 is out of the question.

If my daughter or son came to me I would reiterate what we have already discussed about the responsibility and risks of becoming sexually active. It doesn't matter how safe you are, there is always the chance of pregnancy. They also need to remember that once you take that step you can't go back to hand holding. I would like to advise them to choose a partner that they are comfortable with and not do it because they feel pressured to hold on to someone. Just make sure their head is on straight. You can advise your kids, but ultimately they make their own decisions. You have to trust that you raised them well and let them make their own choices.

Old enough to be able to handle the consequences that might come from having sex. Hard to put an age on that, I know 30 year olds that dont have the mental/emotional/financial capabilities to be out there having sex.

The age of consent is 18. There is the legal answer. In reality, it would depend on my kid. I know kids that are under the age of 16 that I would consider mature and responsible enough to handle it. On the other hand I know adults in their late 20's who still don't have the maturity or responsibility to handle it.

no younger then 13 i think. kids have sex to young. but if the kid is mature enough to come to you and tell you what they are doing, then i think it means they dont want to lie to you. i would much rather have my kids tell me when they are doing it rather then keep it from me, and have them get in trouble or get an STD or something. kids will do what they want, the best you can do is be there when they need you and try and be supportive in a way.

Everyone is different, but most I believe are doing it by 16 or so. Since you cant stop your child, if it's a girl, you should take her to the doctor and get her on the pill. Also explain the birds and bees to them & how girls can get pg w/o protection, diseases, etc....
