So true. It's human nature. I was guilty of doing that alot, but saw the error of my ways. Actually, just the other day, I thanked God for the things he's already given me even though I'm going through a tough time right now. I just said that he must have a plan for me and just to have faith.

It is human nature to associate that which is good with a higher being and then use that higher being to blame everything that is bad that happened as well. We need a way to explain things. Some people cannot explain the bad and keep a belief in God at the same time. They cannot fathom a loving God and a word that is hurting at the same time. For them, it makes no sense and it doesn't work at all. For them, God doesn't exist because if he is so loving then there cannot be bad in the world or he exists and he isn't that loving at all. When we have the good, we want the faith, but when the bad comes, our faith is tested and some people's faith don't survive the test.

My experience has been entirely the opposite. Most people care nothing about a God. Until they fall flat on their faces, and then suddenly see the Light!

It's worse than that. When something good happens it means there is a god and he is good. When something bad happens it is because of mankind's sinfulness.

I've never known any true atheists who did either of these things.
You don't decide on the reality of god based on good and bad stuff happening. Immediate payoff works with gumball machines, not dieties.

because some people blame God for everything even though He gave us free will to make our own decisions. We should learn to deal with the consequences of our own decisions and thank God for the gift of free will.

i do so agree with you. the Jews were just the same, can you wonder why god washed his hands of them, they are no longer the chosen race. it is us gentiles who will go through Armageddon, well some of us. I quote Job: if we can accept the good things from Jehovah why can we not accept the bad'
