Pets, just like people, who are entering the elderly stage are vulnerable to developing many kinds of diseases. Lethargy and anorexia are symptoms of many problems, including organ failure, oral disease, heart disease, metabolic disorders, and so on.

What your dog needs is a complete physical exam and bloodwork to help your vet discover what ails him. All pets, after the age of 6 or 7, should have their teeth cleaned and have full physical exams every year with your vet. After 10 or so, yearly bloodwork is also a good idea in addition to those things, to help catch early signs of illness that can be treated.

We have no way of knowing if your dog is going to be OK because we have to way of knowing what is wrong with him. Not eating is symptomatic of many, many problems, from the mundane to the fatal.

What I can assure you is, you need to get the dog to a vet. He's old, so the chances of this being something serious are increased. Please don't delay any longer in getting this dog the help he needs.

Vet. If a lab won't eat, you know he's in trouble. It could be anything. I had a lab once and she just got old and frail. When she stopped eating, we knew it was time.

You need to take him to the vet, immediately. If he wont drink he could become dehydrated, which could worsen whatever problem he's already having. If he won't eat, he won't get the nutrients he needs to combat any illness he has. Get him to the vet soon!!! He needs help.
