The FDA has approved LASIK only for people 18 years of age and older.

Check with a qualified surgeon to see if you are a good candidate

You have to be over 18 and your prescription has to have been stable for 1 year or more. Meaning you havent had to get a stronger prescription in less than 1 year. I am glad I waited until I was 26 because when I was about 24 or 25 my eyes got a little worse. So if i had done it before that I would have had to have the surgery redone.

I recommend TLC eye centers.

I am not sure it is a LAW, however most Doctors I come in contact with will only do Corrective surgery on candidates that have stopped growing and their eyes have stopped developing, which is about 19 or 20 years old. I would read all I can about it. You can get a lot of info from Dr. Robert Maloney's Web site. He is the forward most corrective surgeon that we have in the US. He happens to be in Los Angeles.

I had lasik last year, here in Northern California. The age requirement where I went was 18 years old. But, some facilities I researched (and I researched many) had an age requirement of 21.

Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and lasik surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare. The Price for dental and lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

I DON'T THINK THEIR IS AN AGE REQUIREMENT, BUT SPEAK TO YOUR OPTOMERTRIST ABOUT IT. I WAS TOLD TO FIND SOMEONE LOCAL AND MAKE SURE THEY HAD AT LEAST FOR LASER TO CHOOSE FROM SO THAT YOU GET THE RIGHT CARE. MOST FACILITIES ONLY HAVE ONE, WHICH ISN'T RIGHT FOR EVERYONE.
