A persons calorie-intake varies based on age and weight, but most of the time 2,000 calories is the suggested amount. Taking in 1,600 calories is not what is going to make you gain weight, it is going to be the fat content and sodium in the food--so, what you're eating is what matters, not really how much you are eating. A person's weight also fluctuates depending on the time they ate, etc. So you may show that you gained a lb. when you weigh yourself on Tuesday morning, but on Wednesday you will be back down to where you were.
I am just wondering why you are concerned about gaining weight when you are only 70 lbs. A healthy and attractive weight for you would be more around 90-100 lbs. I'm sure you are beautiful and don't need to be worrying about this!

Stop worrying about what the scale says from day to day. Your weight can fluctuate by 5 pounds or more simply based on water retention. If you consume a lot of salt one day, for example, you'll weigh more the next morning. What you see on the scale the next morning has almost nothing to do with calories.
It takes much longer than one day before the effects of a calorie imbalance show up. Weigh yourself once a week. Stop obsessing.

Honey, you need to gain weight! 70pounds at 5feet is NOT normal! At 5feet you should be atleast 100pounds especially for a 14 year old. Listen to your doctor (s)he didn't go to med school for all those years to not know what he is talking about. Being skinny is gross. You want to be healthy with nice muscles. Eat 1600 calories a day until you gain weight. Then start doing crunches. Listen to your doctor and your mother. You could DIE if you don't gain weight!

Sounds like you are already UNDERweight. Maybe you could bump your calories up to 2000/day. You're still growing and need the calories to develop normally. Your doctor should probably also take a look at you.. If I were your mom, I'd be feeding you a lot more.

if you have a doctor telling you to eat more you have a problem you need to be at least 20 lbs heaver you are grossly underweight, i suspect you have an eating disorder listen to your doctor and your mom and pray you way more than 70 lbs tomorrow. you are getting fevers because your body is breaking down with out nourishment you could end up in the hospital and they will feed you intravenously.

I think its a safe bet your mom and the doctor aren't conspiring to make you fat so they can laugh at you.
