To myself, this does seem true. There are some pretty far fetched stories in the bible. It seems to be a general guide to what is good and bad, which is law.

some religions are man made, but the religion God gave to the isralites at mt saini was created by him Judism a religion with 613 laws to show people how he felt about things
all western society is based on those values. now you have to understand what Religion really is RELIGION IS AN ORGANIZED WAY OF WORSHIPPING SOMEONE OR SOMETHING, some religions worship animals, some idols, etc. But my God requires a special form of worship which is reformed Judism, who have accepted Jesus as the CHRIST.as a christian I have to worship my God in a way that has his approval not all people do that let me show you an example of some who called themselvles christians
(Matthew 7:21-23) 21 “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22 Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ 23 And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness.
(Luke 13:24) 24 “Exert yourselves vigorously to get in through the narrow door, because many, I tell YOU, will seek to get in but will not be able. . .

One of the oldest laws... God established the "law" when he created the universe... The law of gravity.. The law of sin and death.
Many "religious experts" love to tack in a few rules so that they may cash in for themselves. This is why we must rely solely on Christ, for he is the author of truth.
I love these "freedom fighters" that want to erase and bluff out this longing in their hearts that God has put there for people to find Him. I can make similar claims like them... for example - "Electricity doesn't exist! It is all a scam of the appliance and utility manufacturer; there are other explanations for that light bulb!!" It is so slap-stick funny when you see this default denial behavior.
If you reference the Old Testament, from the creation of man, you can see that it is a constant mankind education course!! For example, the Ten Commandments show us how simple it is for us to not be able to hold up 10 rules. Then when Christ came to fulfill the law, He showed that merely contemplating about breaking these rules is a violation of them. It just goes to show that we cannot achieve perfection on our own, and our only option for a good outcome is to accept God's gift to deliver you. The sole purpose for this mortal life is for you to have a chance at a choice; to choose or deny God. Without a choice, we would be mindless puppets. To be capable of accepting Christ gives us a chance to freely express love to our maker. Much like not forcing your child to give you a hug, but for them to choose to give you their affection... it is such a beautiful thing.
God is not limited by the "law". He created the law... He put the law in place to govern His creation and give us this perfect chance to love Him.
The wages of sin is death - there is no compromising this law! Rejecting Christ is the sin! The rest is just mere additional details.
God will also perfectly judge us based on His perfect law. There will be no chance for indecision or clarity. In this life, your choice will speak for your eternity!!

Soem religions are. Christianity is a rewriting of Judaism, which is a rewrite of Zoarastrianism, which is a retake on polytheistic thought...etc.
My question is, how stupid do people have to be to need, Thou shalt not kill, codified in their belief system? That one seems pretty much a no-brainer. Honor thy mother and thy father? What were they doing, tossing old people in a river or something?
