You could have them do yard work for senior citizens around the area who aren't physically capable of taking care of their yard. It might take a little while to set up though. Or you could have them do a car wash and send the donations to a local charity. That would be a fun thing to do on a hot day.

well i'm in a volunteer club at my school and we've done walks such as the march of dimes and aids walk. our biggest thing yet was working with the animal care and control where we had an adoption event in our own school. it was a success. maybe you can find a local shelter to do something similar. also if you ever feel creative, you can make stuff, sell them, and give the money to an organization. go here: volunteermatch.org and there's listings there too. I hope this was helpful.

One of the best ideas that I have heard of in years for a youth group was to bring a potted flower to a senior citizen at a senior living facility!
The seniors love the sight of a colorful plant, indeed! But the greater sight is that of a young person who hasn't forgotten them while they sit lonely and saddened.
Bring the seniors in the community some sunshine, some flowers and some young smiles. Some of them never get to see any of those things.

Hi, my son had to do a project for school to graduate. It had to be something involving community service. I put him up on Craigslist for a needy family that may need help in landscaping, he is learning this trade. I got several responses of needy people just needing a little extra help. One person had a trailer he needed to have unloaded, he is disabled with diabities... and could not do it himself.
You could post your question there. I did it under the free section and see what you come up with......... We had many and did find a family that really needed some help.
Hope this helps,
Sue

My daughters school walks to the local senior center and sings to them as well as brings special artwork they have created. We also go once a month to our local shelter and the kids cook a meal for people less fortunate. The kids loves this one the most! They helped set-up, served and cleaned up after. They loved playing with the children there as well.

try working and ask for communtiy service hours at picking up trash at the local park or see if you can go to a nursing home. Talk to an adult at shcool because i am sure that they have many papers that they want to get rid of and i am sure that you can do communtiy service at the school, just ask the front office.

There are many things you can do when you have those kind of restrictions. You can have them make up story and illustrate them for nursing homes or daycares. You can have them write letters to our troops or start up a pen pal group. You can have them make cards and give to the local VFW or other Veteran organization. You can have them make drawings to have local non-profits hang in their offices. As you see there are many different things to do. My biggest suggestion is to search the web for more ideas. GOOD LUCK!!

do an art project and have the kids make 2. let them keep one and then have an art sale. the proceeds could go to anything you want. maybe buying some books for the nearby library and the books would have a sticker inside stating the children's names and it was donated to the library by them.
it doesn't have to be art. it could be a play, etc. ticket prices would go to books for the library, etc.

Build a new playground; build a butterfly garden. Depends on their age and what kind of setting for school - is it in the city, suburbs.?
