I'm not the type to go into rages and start hitting people, yelling, or throwing things. But sometimes I do come really close to doing those things. I'm not an angry person overall. Most of the time, I'm calm , laid back, likes to joke a lot. But sometimes, when stuff goes wrong, I get frustrated easy and my first resort is to blame people, and or say hurtful things that I don't mean. I don't know if this is a mental condition or if it's just the way I'm cut out. But I don't want to hurt anybody physically or mentally. Is it necessary to talk to a doctor about this?? Or can this be dealt with alone??

I am the same way. Im amazed that you've evaluated your situation and want to further investigate, and corney but true, that is the first step!

Yes it is a disorder (dont get freaked out! any disorder you read about can be treated!) The name of it I cannot give you because you havent said much about symptoms nor have i had the chance to get more info to evaluate the situation. but talk to your doctor and see what she/he says.

Dont let them send you to anger management classes, they're shams...how does one manage their anger? anger is an emotion so how do you manage it? BS

Good Luck

Short Temper Disorder

Having a short temper per se is not a mental disorder. But those with a short temper actually are predisposed to certain mental illnesses--those related to anger and hostility, possibly even paranoid schizophrenia, or a certain type of neurosis, specifically a personality disorder. It wouldn't hurt to consult an expert about it, preferably a psychologist or a nurse psychiatrist. Don't rely on just the experts though. You must do certain "anger management" measures on your own too.

God bless you!

No. It just means you don't handle some situations as well as others. Your temper is just the time spand it takes you to get angry. If you are laid back most of the time, than you are a laid back person who doesn't take anyone's $h!t. There's nothing wrong with you, there's just different approaches to handling the situations that life endures. Only a doctor will tell you you need another one. I, for one, believe that's there's a remedy for everything and the less money it costs the better. Do what I do before I decide to go off on someone. I think to myself..."Is this something that's worth my mental and physical heath?" & "Can this problem be resolved another way?". I too am a person with a bad temper, but I know how to control it. If I go off on someone, it will be because they decided to continuously 'press my button'.

If it gets in the way of your life too much - you should talk to a doctor. You can deal with it yourself if you want. The border between mental disorders and plain bad attitude is vague. Noone really knows. You don't need to be diagnosed with a mental disorder if you're just seeking advise from a therapist. "Normal" people do it too.

I think since you recognize that this can sometimes beother you then it is a normal thing for you. Those with mental problems don't even realize they are doing it and think nothing about it. I suggest that when you feel like this that you find ways to cope and deal with it. You may be getting stressed out. Find things that will help you get thru the periods of stress or anger. Going for a long walk sometimes help to clear the head, going for a long drive, going shopping though this can be dangerous if you like to buy things-ha.

hmm I have the same problem. I cannot even count how many times I've just wanted to punch or break something, but I have self control. I think it's not bad since you KNOW what you're doing, and you can control. Just do what I do, go for a walk, listen to music, do something you enjoy. If it ever gets to a point where you can't control yourself, that's when you should be concerned. Good Luck. :]

Sometimes i have that problem. I almost never get to that point, but when i do i get super-angry. I don't throw things around but sometimes in the back of my mind i have a urge. Im incredibly argumentative though, unfortuatlly. I Dealt with it alone just by reminding myself about the long term effects, as in putting someone in the hospital, exc. Im definatly not an angry person either. Infact, im very very friendly! But i think sometimes we all get in postions like it. We can't alol be super-happy-calm all the time now can we? Were all human :)

If it is happening due to lot of stress or if you are overwhelmingly worked, you need to work to solve these problems, these can easily make one irritated reulting in such behavior. If above is not the case, you might want to consider counseling for anger management.

Good Luck!
