At what age did you get married?

I got married at 19 in 1957...A very long time ago. It was a different world then. My father had died suddenly when I was 17 and I had to put my college plans on the back burner and go to work to help support my mother while she got back on her feet. I met my husband at a dance and it was love at first site. Two years later we were married and we now have 3 children, 7 grandchildren and will be married 50 years this September. But in looking back...if I had gone to college, I would have stayed single and become a teacher which was my dream. Then I would have gotten married. In today's world, I would have waited till I was in my late 20's where you know more about life and what you really want. But in looking back, I didn't do that bad after all.

I was 19 he was 22. We were only together a year, 7 months of which he was in Iraq. I dont think a lot of people understand the bond that a deployment can build. I'm an old soul, though, and my husband is my soul mate. He's leaving again for his third tour next month, after us being married for only six months. It's not an easy life, but it's worth ever second I get to spend with my husband. If you're thinking about getting married, go through a deployment first. Best of luck :)

I was 17 I don't recommend it. The marriage lasted 40 years until he died. But I found out that I really didn't know him

The age at which you marry isn't as important as how well you know the person. I thought that I knew my husband well be he led a secret life both before and after we were married. If I had spent more time really listening to what his friends had to say about him, it would have saved a lot of heartache.

Before you marry you should live by yourself and be sure that you know how to handle finances and other life problems.
