why is that u only ask about pit bulls? All dogs need training and a leader. it just so happen the media loves to put pits that attack on headlines had skips over the pits that do great things. its and eye catcher. because noone understands that a pit is not to be like that. report that abby the toy poodle bit a kid not headline stuff. ohhhh the kids must have done some thing to the cocker...small dog to make it attack. thats a bunch of crap. u didn't see attacks long ago like ya do now. and those dogs where never chained... there were few leash laws. and why? because dogs are dogs and treats as such they had rules and someone took the time to train them.... they are not something that trains itself and yet everyone gets them and thinks good dogs just happen....they don't they are made. the pit any dog whom attack are the ones on chains...life in fenced yards without any contact with ppl only for food....if they are lucky to get that. unsocialized dogs are the problem. and it not just the pits. or the rotties or the shepherd or the dobbies...did i miss any?

As an Obedience Instructor I have seen many bully breeds. If they are with the correct owners they are usually calm and friendly as the owners have taken the time to make sure they are treated well and socialized at an early age. They are usually the ones that are given adequate exercise and their owners are vested in providing the time and effort to train them well. The hyper ones are the ones who do not get adequate exercise and time with their people and strangers. The 'mean' ones are the ones who were never taken outside their home to be socialized with other people and animals and who have owners who do not do what is necessary to train them properly. There is nothing specifically wrong with the breed provided they were bred by legitimate breeders specifically for good temperament. A good dog is a combination of good breeding and good environment no matter what breed it is.

Pits are not necessarily mean.
People make dogs mean. I have heard that temperment also comes from breeding but again PEOPLE make dogs mean, whether its a Pit or a Poodle.
You might want to do some research.

The people raising the dog are either raising it improperly by conditioning that behavior into the dog or they are mistaking rough play for aggressive behavior. Aggression is not an instinctual trait in any dog but rather a conditioned one that the dog learns through experience. Much like children it's all about how you raise them.

why are people get school then they get bad grammar?
Your ignorance disturbs me.. How is it possible you can operate a computer, but you can't formulate a simple question with proper grammar?
Pitbull breeds dont "get nice" and then "get mean" they like every other dog breed, are either raised propery and turn into well socialized and trained dogs, or they are raised improperly and turn into aggressive, dangerous dogs.

ok first off its in how you train them they just dont get mean! You have to socailize them from the get go,and obeiance training is also good you dont have to take them to classes but work with them they are very smart dogs. As all puppys do they show behaviors like biting you have to curve these behaviors. Also as puppys they dont show agression when they muture they start to. Its all in the way you train them! i seen many that are nice, and stayed nice.

in general it had to have something to have made it mean or possible that it was an inbreeding.
I have had several pitt bulls and they have leved to be anywhere from 2 ( and taht was due to cancer) up to 13 and never had problems with behavior.
They were teh sweetest dogs ..Even around todlers.

I agree with just_me_1955. Any dog can "get mean" not just pitts. And I will agree with the first person and say yeah you are going to piss people off.
Read more facts before you post questions like this.

i'm not gonna blow up on this one LOL
it's not the dog ... its the owner!! people create these "mean" dogs by the way they are treated. I've seen a lot of other breeds turn vicious and mean and they weren't bully breeds.
