Recently here at work I was notified that a bumper sticker I had on my car either had to be removed or covered up because someone reported it to security as an offensive sticker. I said: If I wanted a B*tch I'd buy a dog. As I tried to exlpain to some of those I work with, I didn't see it as offensive since it wan't meant or directed at anyone in general I did cover it up and have since found out who complained, although they don't know I know. I also found out the complaint was part of a personal attack launched at me for personal reasons. So my question is this, do women in general feel as though that sticker was offensive? I just can't see it as such.

Also, it was on the car when I bought it, but since it made me think of my wicked, nasty mean ex, I liked it and decided not to remove it.

Also forgot to mention that it's been in plain view for over a year and a half now and never a word has been said till now. And I do not think women are ******s. I actually like all women, even my ex...now.

It's a bumper sticker. You didn't do anything to anyone. I wish people would just relax sometimes. I am a woman, and I am not offeneded at all. If you are a offended at being called a *****, don't act like one. lol. otherwise stand up and be proud.

It does seem as if the message was meant to be offensive. However, I can't believe a workplace being able to dictate what bumper stickers you have on your car! It would be like telling you what books/magazines you could read, and what you could watch on t.v.

Perhaps the person who reported your bumper sticker as offensive is trying to eradicate the usage of the term b**ch as referred to women so profusely in our culture. Maybe you didn't mean the sticker in that way - or maybe you did? Only you know.

I think they see it as calling women bitches. It's as if your saying women are bitches, and you don't want anything to do with them. Or that you already have a *****, and it's not a dog. If it was a personal attack, that's not right. My brother had a sticker on his bumper that was the Christian fish symbol. Except it had feet, and said "Darwin". People gave him such a hard time (right up in his face) that he had to remove it.

I wish people would do one of two things. Either make offending someone illegal or get over it. Right now I see, hear and read all kinds of things that, as a conservative, I find offensive. But nothing is done about it.

But if some member of certain groups finds something I say, do or write offensive I get my head handed to me.

I don't believe being offensive is the way we should conduct ourselves but then again, I do not see a constitutional right to not be offended. Right now, it appears that only some people have that right.

There are acuttaly 2 answers to the question that you have asked.

Reason offensive = Yes it may be offensive by teaching other citizens to think it would be funny to tell there 5 year old children thought the words.

Reason not offensive = It may not be offensive becuase why would they sell the bumper sticker in stores if you buy it it may be used in the U.S.

If you have question just ask me.

i'm a woman and i don't find it offensive (it's actually kind pretty funny). if the lady who complains finds it offensive she just needs to stop looking at it, the way i read the question this is YOUR car we're talking about. at the same time, in the interest of being professional it was probably not a good idea to let people at work see that, but if you work at a place that is normally laid back, i can't see how you were in the wrong here. she needs to get over her self

As far as bumper stickers go, it's not that bad. It doesn't say that all women are biches or that you want to kill your wife or trade her in for a blowup doll. It doesn't say that their pitbull ate your honor student. Women can be quite nasty, and it sounds like this one is on your case. It might be a good idea to talk to someone in human resources about it or your boss, in case she decides to launch another sneaky attack in the future.

There is no way in hell I would have removed the sticker. They would have to fire me and then I would sue. That is YOUR personal property. Oh I am ticked off for you! I would send them a bill for 100.00 stating that is the cost of your removing the sticker.

Oh man this flew all over me! The woman who reported you is obviously a complete *****!

Personally, I never find bumper stickers offensive. Now it would be a different matter if you were speaking directly to me and said that phrase.
