THANK YOU to the person who said never to use shaker cans and spray bottles, and never to use the crate as punishment. I know someone who made these awful mistakes training their puppy, and not only is he now deathly afraid of even the slightest noise (due to the shaker can), he has also chewed through two crates because he associates them with being punished!
When puppy training, it's better to focus on positive reinforcement rather than punishment. If you see the puppy in the middle of a behavior that's unacceptable to you, redirect him to a behavior that is acceptable and praise him for doing what you want. Yelling at him for any reason - or most any other form of "punishment" - will only make him afraid of you. NEVER punish a puppy for something he did that you did not catch him doing. Puppies have a very small short-term memory, and if you scream and yell at them for something they did hours ago while you were away at work, they have absolutely no idea why you're doing so. Start training him basic commands as soon as you can, and always give him a reward when he does what you ask. Most dogs are food-motivated, so a small treat usually works great. Not only will this make him better behaved, it'll help him bond with you. When he learns that he's pleased you, he'll keep trying to do so because he knows he'll be rewarded. It doesn't matter what kind of puppy you have, they're all essentially the same when it comes to discipline. Stick to a plan like this and don't let anyone or anything throw you off track. The minute you do, the dog will learn that the rules can be broken.

Dogs are pretty easy to train...they can tell when you are pleased and when you are mad...the best approach is to teach the dog what means yes and what means no...most people just use the word "NO" but some people like to use "BAH" or some other word you wouldnt really use on a normal basis.
If you need some incentive other than words there are a few options. If the dog hates water a spray bottle with water is always a good pick...just spray him when he does wrong. Another good one is an empty coffee can with coins in it and shake it. Whiel doing either of these say NO or BAH or whatever command you want to use and eventually the dog willg et the point adn you will no longer need the can or water anymore. Tada!
Hope this helps :)

training a dog is certainly not done through intimidation. that only leads to the dog being fearful and nervous. ALWAYS congratulate the puppy when he does something good and reward him for the good behavior. he will start to associate the good behavior with a treat or praise and he will learn that the bad behavior gets him nothing. obviously, you cant just ignore things like chewing on things and barking when he shouldn't. for things like that give him a firm 'no' and let him know you re not happy with the behavior. a 'no' followed by a smile or a pat on the head or a laugh gets you nowhere and confuses the poochie. good luck!

Positive reinforcement works on all dogs. You give the dog a treat and/or praise and attention when it does something you want it to do; you ignore the dog when it misbehaves.
NEVER use shaker cans, spray bottles or other aversives on dogs; this teaches them nothing except to be afraid of you.
And NEVER use a crate as a form of punishment. Crates are designed to provide dogs with their own safe, private "den" in your home, and are NOT to be used as "doggie jails".
If there is a specific type of training you want to give your dog, we may be able to assist you.

in no way purchase a domestic dog youthful than 8 weeks. i think of a Labrador Retriever could be a great first canine. Labs desire assorted workout. i think of black Labs are the main fascinating. Feed the canine a great high quality meals (professional Plan) and furnish leadersip, workout, coaching, and socialization. adult males are much less stressful than women human beings.

Just be consistent with training and use a lot of praise. Poms are sensitive emotionally and physically. ☺

Immediately removing it from something it enjoys or taking its toys away. A "time-out" in it's crate is also a very good option.
Good luck. Small dogs are stubborn as all get out! LOL

Spraying him with a spray bottle, giving him a time-out, scolding him lightly, don't give them treats if they are being naughty. I hope this works!
