I have a girl, she's beautiful 5lb, 5oz and she's full grown 6 years old. I've had her since she was 6 weeks. It's all personal preference, I find girls easier to train and of course they are smaller and smarter! $500 is cheap, especially if you know he/she is thoroughbred and have seen the parents and papers.

I am TTC # 5. My hubby and i currently have 4 gorgeous daughters whom we adore. When we do get pregnant with # 5 we truly don't care what sex we get. It is always a 50% chance of either but statistics do show that for every 100 baby boys that are born 105 girls are born. So having a girl is slightly higher, but maybe for some people like me more than others. Good luck...

the price depends on teh breeding and the background, Also is it coming with papers, shots wormings??
I prefer a female they do seem to be friendlier but it would cost more to spay her.
Snowflake is a good name but it's so common.
I like Ivory, Devol which is loved spelled backwards,
Cotton just to name a few.

Girl dogs are always better because if you have a male he would mark his teritory the nasty way but females are more conservitive.

my cousin has a male maltese, very sweet and loving dog that loves human attention. his name is rascal and its very fitting because of how playful he is. i would pick a puppy based on how it interacts with you, either way you should be fine.

Get a girl. They are much easier to handle when they are growing up
