I currently work at CompUSA, and have been for the past 3 years. I'm currently making $10.60 an hour and I hate it there because I seriously get like 8 hours a week. I have an Interview at Best Buy and want to know what I can expect for an hourly wage.

I think I "shot myself in the foot" so to speak, when early in my career I was asked what salary I was looking for during an interview. I've since regretted answering with a set figure, because that's exactly what they offered me; and after accepting the job, I always wondered What if I had asked for more?

You have 3 years experience with their major competitor; that's valuable to them! If I were you, I'd reiterate that fact when discussing salary, and avoid mentioning a specific dollar amount. Instead, say: I would like to consider your best offer. (Practice saying that before your interview.)

True, they probably have a set salary range in mind as a guideline they need to follow, but if they like you and want to hire you, they'll make you an offer at the TOP of that range. Good Luck! (BTW, my defination of L.U.C.K.: Labor Under Controlled Knowledge)

They'll probably have something in mind, but if you're already making $10.60 an hour at CompUSA, then if they ask you what wage you expect you could tell them that, and say you'd like to get somewhat more than that, due to your experience in a similar line of work.

Good luck.

It depends upon what part of Best Buy you work at. Some departments actually work on commission. Experts in the departments will make more than cashiers, who couldn't expect much more than minimum wage.
