You will have to go get one at the store if you want new. Getting a concealed carry permit is not that hard to do however it is time consuming. As far as a good economical gun, I like the Springfield XD .40
Caliber. The best advice I can give you here is that if the gun feels good in your hand you will probably like the way it shoots. If it is uncomfortable to hold, it will feel funny when you shoot it. Caliber is always a big debate. It all comes down to shot placement in the end so buy what you like. Look for the safety features the gun has. Check out what ammo costs. If you are not planning on concealed carry, then you can carry the gun SEPARATE FROM THE AMMO in any state (i.e. to the range or out to the boonies to go shooting). Do your homework and you will end up with what you want, and if not, it's just an excuse to get another gun!
