Wow, please don't buy this stuff. It's illegal in many countries for a reason. My grandmother was one of the *many* who suffered a heart attack and died after using this product in the 80s. There are way better ways to lose weight. :(

If you're talking about the source herb, ephedra, you should look for a doctor of Oriental Medicine in your area. If it is in an ethnic neighborhood, bring a friend who speaks the language. They may not understand what you're asking for.
The Chinese refer to it as "Ma Huang," and use it for various respiratory ailments. Their places are filled with large jars and a wall of wooden drawers, similar to old-time pharmacies.
I never had a problem using it when it was available in the States, but some people are more sensitive. FYI, it is not supposed to be used in conjunction with other stimulants (e.g: caffeine), because it can cause heart arrhythmia.
Also, as with all bulk herbs, potency is not guaranteed to be uniform between doses unless it is in the form of standardized extracts.
Another caveat is the reliability of the source. Herbs have been known to have varying levels of contaminants such as chemicals and metals.
Be careful, and good luck.

The death-toll in the USA prevents its sale OTC here.
James advice is good, but consider the thoughts of Dave Matthews Band:
"We drink too much...
eat too much ...
want too much...
too much."
And as always, talk with your doctor first.
