Well, what they say is, "What you let them do as puppys, you cannot take away from them as dogs." Meaning that it is extremely difficult once they are allready adults. But try the same way that websites say to do for a puppy. You never know, it just might work. Good Luck!

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMTFh
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Get a book on dog training. In one of those books you will find a word command that gives your dog permission to relieve himself. If you can train him to obey most of the word commands in the book you can potty train him.
The trick is that your dog must learn that there will be a reward of a treat or of praise from you whenever he does something good.

Train him the same way you would a puppy: Go outside with him and reward him for doing his business outside. Confine him when you can't supervise, watch him carefully when he's inside, restrict his freedom in the house until he is reliable, grant him more access to the house slowly as he earns it.

Hi Daniela,
your best bet would be to check out:
http://usefulresources.info/dogtrainingsecrets.html
It's the best dog training resource I've come across so far and is suitable for all dogs. I'm very satisfied with the positive results brought by their step by step program.
Hope that helps! :-)
Best wishes,
Kimberly

i assume you mean "house train" If a dog hasn't been housetrained by 4 years old you might as well make it an outdoor dog. I don't think you'll have much luck housetraining it now. if you mean "toilet trained " I don't think anyone has successfully taught a dog to use a toilet, although you can train a cat to use it. sometimes you can even teach them to flush.

They should try the crate method. I have a puppy ( I know you are referring to an adult dog) and I have crate trained him. I also have an adult jack russel terrier. She had the same problem as your adult dog. I made them go to their crate when they messed in the house. They go in their crates when I leave for work and up until recently they both slept in their crates. My dogs have learned that they don't mess in their crates and they don't mess in the home. My youngest lets me know when he has to go potty. I recommend crate training it worked wonders for me.

Place newspaper in a corner of the house. Take the dog to the corner and talk to him or her repeatedly. Say a certain phrase that will make him or her respond. I say for example: eee eee en el papelito (which is Spanish for eee eee in the paper). At first the dog will not respond to the new method. Take him or her to the spot they urinated or pooped on and make a big fuss about it. Make them know that you are upset but don't hurt him or her. I go: Aaaayyyy! Aaaaayyy! Eee eee ahi no! (which is Spanish for: Awwww! Awwww! Eee eee here no!) The repeat the command: eee eee in the paper! Take the dog to corner where the newspaper is and make him or her sniff the paper. Repeat until necessary.
Good luck!

When your dog does his buissness in the house give him/her a spank and if he/she has a crate put he/she in their crate and leave him/her in there for about 15 min. If your dog doesn't have acrate then leave him/her outside in your backyard for about 15 min.
