Southern food, Mexican food, and Italian. Simplistic food and delicious. Southern food - biscuits, eggs, and grits. Mexican food - tacos and burritos. Italian - spaghetti and lasagna.

Hand down, it's Jambalaya!

It is so involved to make that you're kept busy from start to finish, but it isn't overwhelming. You start the chicken browning in oil, then cut up the sausage and add it to the pot. While those are going, your veggies are cut up and tossed in with perfect timing. While all that sautees together, you can peel your shrimp (or buy it already peeled and use the time to clean up the work area a bit!). Add your spices and stock, bring to a boil, toss in the shrimp, cook until shrimp is white and viola! Big, yummy pot of Jambalaya!

Takes about a half hour to make, total and can be left on the stove on low for a few hours if you're not ready to serve, yet.

I'm also a sucker for making pumpkin rolls and carrot cakes! LOL

Thanks, fun question!

Thanksgiving dinner is my favorite thing to cook. I don't know if it because of having all my family around me, or the variety of dishes i get to make, but it is my favorite.
I love to cook everything though. Cooking is the one thing that I do well, and enjoy doing the most. I love to experiment with new recipes and i love trying new things. I am learning about South African cuisine right now. It is amazing.

I really love to do big family-style dinners, like a roast chicken or turkey with mashed potatoes, gravy & all that good stuff. Pot roast with yorkshire pudding is also fun to make.

Soups are also a favorite of mine to cook. There's something about throwing a bunch of ingredients into a pot, simmering it for a while, and having a fabulous meal from it that really appeals to me.

my favortie thing to make is cookies!! we jsut made some today. this is the best recipe:

Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies

Preparation time: 30 to 35 minutes
Baking time: 8 to 13 minutes/baking sheet
About 3 dozen cookies

1-1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
3/4 cup Butter Flavor CRISCO all-vegetable shortening or 3/4 Butter Flavor Crisco stick
2 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 egg
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup (6-ounce package) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup pecan pieces (optional)*

Heat oven to 375ºF. Combine brown sugar, Butter Flavor Crisco Shortening, milk and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Beat egg into creamed mixture.
Combine flour, salt and baking soda. Mix into creamed mixture until just blended. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts, if used.
Drop rounded measuring tablespoonfuls of dough 3 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet.
Bake one baking sheet at a time at 375ºF for 8 to 10 minutes for chewy cookies (they will look light and moist), or 11 to 13 minutes for crisp cookies. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheet on a cooling rack; remove cookies to rack to cool completely.

* If nuts are omitted, add an additional 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Bar Cookies
Prepare dough according to directions in recipe. Grease 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan with Butter Flavor Crisco. Spread dough evenly in pan.
Bake 19 to 21 minutes or until top is golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean and center feels slightly firm to the touch. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

I like to wow people with my mexican food because I'm from new mexico and transplanted in louisiana.
burritos, tacos, etc WITHOUT using "taco" seasoning thats just nasty, lol.
my favorite is guacamole, not really cooking of course, just preparing. super simple just mash up ripened avacados and add pace picante sauce or your favorite store bought salsa. I make my own salsa, but I find I like guacamole with pace because of the vinegar quality, but I dont like vinegar in just salsa.
I really like to make homemade spaghetti sauce and homemade meatloaf, I always experiment with new ingredients.
I recently learned how to make a cajun "steak in tomato gravy" over rice, which is how everything cajun is served, over rice. I like making that too. I put mushrooms in almost everything that is not mexican.

To me, there's just something so fun and satisfying about really getting into a complicated, lush, fresh, dessert recipe. Love it!
