I sucked up some kind of debris into my air cooler and it fried the engine on the freeway before I knew it was overheating...

Because of time problems I can not rebuild my own this time so heres a unique question to come out of my mouth.

I am in California - Where in California (or even Oregon) is a shop that puts together a great and sturdy longblock? I have the Tin and the misc. stuff and can do the install.. I just need a good longblock? So, does anyone have any recommendations??

Strictly VW (626) 815-9994 there to busy to take your money if you don't want your motor rebuilt right.

I got a hi-po 1600 from them and have had 40,000 trouble free miles in my 72 bug. Hit me up if you need any other advise.

Also check out AJ simms he is a another first rate VW builder and his carbs are the best for everyday driving.

Next time get the metal screen for the back of your shroud to keep debris out.

Honest Engine, Eureka CA. 707 443 9329. The guy who builds them (Monte) is so meticulous you would think he was building a helicopter engine. I know, I built VW's in the 70's and know the difference. Part quality seems to be the big issue today and Monte won't except 2nd best.
