I think being an atheist means that you have had a good education in the scientific world. You are someone who looks for the answer to everything because you feel that there should be an answer to everything. However I don't believe that just because you are well educated that you will necessarily lean towards atheism, maybe more spirituality of another nature.

For the most part, yes. However, the word educated is broad enough to include religious education, such that some educated people are only educated in religious thought. People with a well-rounded education, in other words who are exposed to science as other than the enemy, tend more to embrace atheism.

Educated people are more likely to question the validity of a statement before they accept it as absolute truth. I would say this leans more toward agnosticism. I have met very few true atheists.

I was valedictorian of my class of 450 in a public school.. Graduated in Advance studies including honor by my state with honors.. went to Governors school... (5 minutes Later)... Was at the top of my class my first two years of school until I transfered to now I am working to be an M.D. In Oncology soon (because i took the short combined 6 year plan to Med school instead of 8).. I'm a fundamentalist baptist... From there I know PLENTY of people in higher educational spots that claim to be Christian... so how much education do you have again??? Yeah...
P.s. If you take Sociology and learn it you will find that who defines the term educated.. I'm educated in the secular world and Christian world. Just because some don't waste there time study what you think is "important" does not mean you are educated.
God Bless

I think the term "educated" is a little off on this one, there are plenty of educated people that are not athiests. The one thing that will cause atheism though is rationality, if you have a rational and logical mind, you are not going to be convinced by religion and the idea of a god.

Not wrong at all. It takes a big suspension of reality to actually believe in invisible beings and such, and a smart person is far less likely to do that, unless they are at Disneyland or the movies or something.

You mean like Einstein, Copernicus, or Franklin? Oops, they all believed in God. Nearly every major scientist, author, literary figure, and scholar has expressed some belief in God.
I think your statement is a reflection of your negative experiences and conversations with people who call themselves "people of faith."
Christianity has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found difficult and left untried.
