Check out Federal Student Aid Web Site or FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
I suggest you explore all federal funding and grant options at the Federal Student Aid website http://federalstudentaid.ed.gov/
You may also want to read the Handbook of the Pell Grant -- this is an 86 page document that contains everything about the grant
http://ifap.ed.gov/sfahandbooks/attachments/0203Vo3MasterFile.pdf
Or you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/gtepfpg.pdf at 1-800-433-3243 and ask them if there are any programs for you
Aside from FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov and Pell Grant http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/index.html , you may want to explore private foundation grants
Also check out Fastweb http://www.fastweb.com
For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center's Foundation Grants for Individuals Online http://gtionline.fdncenter.org . It's a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) and their opening blurb says that the database is ideal for "students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices." You may be able to find grants from private foundations.

You really should do the FAFSA at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov first. Since both parents are deceased (and assuming you haven't been adopted by someone else) you can apply for financial aid as an independent student, meaning only your income and asset information will be used to determine your eligibility. You'll probably need to submit a copy of your parent's death certificates to the aid office at your school so make sure you have those handy, but your aid package should cover the majority of your expenses.

www.fastweb.com
This site is free and lists several places for grants, loans ,and scholarships. Just fill out the questionaire and you'll receive a list of several organizations who are offering money according to your ethnic group, religion, politics, region of the country(world) you live in ,etc..
Most of these companies require you to write an essay on the subject of THEIR choice. Then, you submit your work to be reviewed by their selection committees.
Others require you to make a home video explaining what you would do if you had the chance to further your education. If your entry is chosen, you get the money. Most prizes start at about $250.00 and go as high as $25,000.00. And there's no limit as to how many of these you can apply for in a single year.
