The mall is OK and maybe dinner and a movie. From there you should already have a vibe about him. Explain that as this was your first real meeting you would like to end it after the movie and talk with him another time about a second date. If he is truly interested in you as you hope ... he will go for that and things will progress at a sane speed. Be happy, be safe, be careful and have fun! Good luck!

Bad idea. Really bad idea. People online are just... totally different than their real selves. If you are determined to meet him then for goodness sakes be safe about it! Don't go to his house! Keep yourself safe by staying in a public place the whole time, the mall or a movie is fine. But if you go to his house alone you are really asking for trouble. It doesn't matter how old you are, this is not safe for a woman to do.

I talked to a girl online for a while and we met at a shopping mall. That was 11 years ago. Now we are married with 2 kids! Go for it, but be safe. Stay in public places for the first date.

I don't think the movies are a good idea. If you're just meeting for the first time, do you want to be somewhere dark and possibly alone the first date? It's definitely not the safest thing to do, and absolutely don't go back to his house!
When I meet someone I've been talking to online, we meet for dinner, meet being the key word, not going to one or anothers house. Just keep it short, if you hit it off, you go out again...
Good luck, and be safe!

Hey.
I met my boyfriend online. We've been together over a year now, and I plan to marry him someday.
There's nothing wrong w/ it... it's just important to do it in a public place. **just incase**
We met at the park, and went for a walk together around 4 in the afternoon. Luckily, he turned out to be a great person. :)
I guess just get a feel for him when you're at the mall and movies.... and then if you feel safe and okay about him.... going to his house is something you need to decide if you're ready to do.
maybe just to be a little extra cautious, ensure someone else (a close friend or family member) has his address, just incase.
But, if you know him pretty well... and have a good feel for himm. Enjoy your date. :)

I say mall is okay, movies are iffy, and his house is a NO. We've had many victims in my city of online frauds. One setup even involved the guy talking and hanging with a girl for a little while to gain his trust before he was beat up and robbed. Be safe!!!

Sounds good except for the going back to his house part. I think you should just meet and go to the movies and see how it goes. Or maybe go to dinner since you can't really talk in the movie theater. If you agree to go back to his house he will assume you're going to have sex with him.
